About Us

what we do

Optimize Energy Usage and Building Performance

OES optimizes energy usage and building performance through Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) of HVAC systems and Technically Based Commissioning and Retro-Commissioning of new and existing facilities’ HVAC, electrical, fire protection, plumbing, communications, and security systems to provide buildings with functional systems that maximize energy efficiency while providing health and comfort for its occupants.

Consolidated Laboratory Testing

OES provides comprehensive testing and lab specialties installation of biosafety cabinets, BSL laboratories, and pharmaceutical facilities that require NIH/CDC/FDA compliance.  Combined testing allows customers to save hours of time trying to schedule multiple certifiers.  OES’ diversity gives customers a “one-stop shopping”, whole lab commissioning option.

In addition to system testing, OES has a full line of fume hood and biosafety lab controls that use the latest technologies in energy savings.  (See Accutrol in the Solutions section.)

what we are

Our team is made up of a diverse and accredited group of certified specialists with over 25 years of experience installing and certifying HVAC equipment in buildings and laboratories.  All of our technicians are active members of the sheet metal and plumber and pipe fitter trade unions.  OES provides NEBB certified professionals with the highest technical experience in TAB execution, control installation, biosafety, clean room, and commissioning services. We are a third party, independent TAB, containment, and commissioning firm that works with owners, engineers, and facility managers to achieve project requirements and engineer design intents.

what we are not

We are not a licensed engineering design group that competes with other professional engineering companies that specialize in mechanical, electrical, and architectural design. We work with these groups to provide commissioning, TAB, biosafety and clean room certifications. Our personnel are certified and trained professionals in field certification of air and hydronic systems, biosafety cabinets, HEPA filtration, viable and non-viable sampling, new construction, and retro-commissioning of buildings. We do not believe in process based commissioning. Process based commissioning only focuses on paper documentation execution, eliminating hands-on point tests and in-depth site observations. We believe in working as a team with contractors and engineers to meet owners’ project requirements and design intents.

What Sets Us Apart

Certified Personnel:  All of our commissioning and TAB professionals are certified by the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) or TABB. All reports provided by OES go through strict reviews of our company quality control and local OEBB chapter for compliance with NEBB Procedural Standards. Our certifications include HVAC Whole Building Technical Commissioning, Retro-Commissioning, Fire Protection, Air and Hydronic Testing, Balancing and Adjusting (TAB), Sound and Vibration, and Fume Hood Performance Testing.

NSF 49 Accredited & NEBB ASHRAE 110 Fume Hood Certified Professionals:  We have over 25 years of experience testing controlled environments, such as critical lab systems, biosafety cabinets, isolators, and fume hoods.

Mechanical Specialists:  We have specialists that have been tested and licensed in mechanical systems. We offer complete “turn key” lab component installation and certification.  Our professionals have been trained by a variety of control schools, local trade unions, and the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB). All of our specialists have a minimum of four years of experience in the mechanical trades, successfully completing actual installation, start-up, and service of large mechanical and control systems.

Technically Based Commissioning Personnel: Technically based commissioning means that all points and systems are verified by the commissioning professionals and is not a result of contractors filling out process based forms only.  The actual hands-on approach to the commissioning process promotes:

  1. Cooperation between trades and maximizes quality of installed systems.
  2. Assures systems are complete and operating to meet the project design intent and basis of design.

Automation Experienced Personnel:  All of our commissioning agents and critical containment specialists are experienced in actual installation of fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, filtration systems, and laboratory/building automation systems.

Because of our firm’s diverse experience and strong credentials in control, electrical, and mechanical systems, we can offer a certified building system solution that will meet any owner/operator needs.
